It lies off the coast of Olivine City across a trecherous whirlpool filled sea. The area is known as the Whirl Islands, and legend tells of the guardian pokemon Lugia residing somewhere amongst them

| Mahogony Town
The motto of the northernmost town in Johto is "Welcome to the Home of the Ninja" because of the ninjas that once resided there. To the north of this happy, quiet town is the ever popular, Lake of Rage. The main focus on this town is its Ice pokemon gym where trainers can earn the Glacierbadge.

| Blackthorn City
often refered to as the "Dragon City", trainers flock here in quest of the Rising Badge, from the dragon-type gym. Other sites include the famous Dragon's Den, where many famous dragon trainers have trained. It was created by a clan of Dragon type masters. Inside contains a shrine to dragon pokemon. It is said that some dragon pokemon dwell within as their home. The Ice Path is the only entrance into the town, besides flying, or hiking the mountain, but its a steep climb
